The conservatoire

A UNIQUE TESTIMONY OF OUR HERITAGE AND HISTORY

The Berliet Foundation spends an important part of its resources into the restoration of old equipements. They joined the collection, coming mostly from donations and are representatives of their period, of a brand or of a technology.

BE CAREFUL, THE CONSERVATOIRE IS NOT A MUSEUM

The “Steel Memory” composed of the major part of the collections of commercial vehicles, cars, engines and components, is stored in a dedicated building 30 kms (circa 18 miles) north of Lyon. In this facility of 7 200 m2 (circa 75 000 sqf) are gathered the restored pieces of the collections.

THE “CONSERVATOIRE” IS NOT OPENED TO THE PUBLIC

If you want to visit it as an individual, you just have to become a member of the “Berliet Foundation Friends Association” (Association des Amis de la Fondation). As such, you will be invited to the annual event, the Fête des Amis”, which takes place at the Conservatoire on a Saturday afternoon every spring.

  • The visit is free for the members, and Foundation’s volunteers will assist you for any information you may need.
  • Every member is entitled to an invitation for himself and three guests of his choice coming with him.

THE FOUNDATION CAN ALSO ORGANISE GUIDED VISITS

These visits are meant for groups of at least 15 people.

They are conducted by specialist volunteers and are available from March to October (except July&August).

The Berliet Foundation can put at disposal pieces of its collections for special educational events or historical exhibitions. The Conservatoire has also an educational vocation : reception of students from schools and universities, and, also, people from the automotive and transport industry, and institutions linked to the French industrial heritage and history.
